By implementing a province-wide centralized referral system, Ontario can create a clearer and smoother path to care. Family doctors would send referrals electronically, cases would be prioritized based on urgency, the system would provide clear updates, and specialists could focus on ensuring patients get the support they need.

New polling conducted by Abacus Data reveals that patients and families are waiting too long for answers about their health, and Ontarians overwhelmingly support modernizing the province’s referral system so patients can access care when they need it.
